More Mosier and Ellie

Today was a BEAUTIFUL day in KC. A wonderfully warm 60 degrees! YAY for it being sunny too! So, the doggies got to play outside... they got themselves a fair share of muddy, but they enjoyed themselves all the while!

After that, I decided to use Mosier as a teacher and take them both to the park where I was sure there were going to be an abundance of children. We went to a nearby park that has a duck pond, nature trail, accessible play ground, and lots of different textures to walk on. We went to the duck pond first because fewer kids were over there. Ellie is rather shy around kids... and since Mosier is Mr. Confidence I thought it might help for her to see him work the crowd so to speak. She barked at the first kid or two then realized Mosier didn't seem scared of those blood sucking monsters. So, she settled down and decided the ducks were more interesting. We walked around the duck pond about 3 times and were able to successfully pass kids without barks or hackles raising! WOW - what an accomplishment!!!!!

So, we moved on to the nature trail which isn't really a nature trail, but a train around all sorts of plants and flowers like a botanica kinda place. We had to pass the kids playing in the playground to get there so I thought that would be good. We would just pass them and then see how that would work and would be able to calm down on the nature trail. She only woofed a few times as we passed - usually to kids coming out of enclosed slides. They just would appear from no where! It was packed with kids of all ages.

We then walked around the nature trail where she was able to see kids on the playground and hear them... but not be too close. Then, we went back to the playground and she did SO well. Kids would run up and ask if they could pet. I told them they could pet Mosier, but probably better not pet Ellie. She did good about not barking, but did shy when they got too close. She also didn't raise her hackles! WOOT! But, the more kids who came up and loved on Mosier, the more jealous she got. She eventually, would put her head on his back... so Mosier was still between the kid and her, but she would get her head petted. So, not a bad outting if I do say so. I am glad to know she has the potential to get over her fear of kids. I'm hoping, that next week as she spends more time with Mosier and kids... she'll really get it in her head kids aren't all that bad.

After that, the puppies were a bit tired and decided to take a nap.

Ellie's feet are on the right, and Mosier's feet are on the left in this pic:

I think it's safe to say these puppies love each other very, very much!

Aw - good Mosier... It's hard work being a role model isn't it?
